Signing in
Where to sign in, how to start an account, two-step verification, and what to do when you cannot get in.
Where to sign in
Go to app.kirk-co.com. The bare address sends you to the sign-in page, and once you are in, on to your workspace.
If you do not have an account yet
You can create one yourself. Use Start free trial at the top of this page, or go straight to app.kirk-co.com/portal/signup. You will need a working email address, and you can sign up with a password or with Google.
Signing up creates the account. The seven-day free trial starts separately, when you choose a plan and finish checkout — see the free trial for what happens then.
Client accounts for the Website Manager work the other way round: those are created for you by Kirk & Co. as part of your website, and you will be sent the details.
Where you land
Where you arrive depends on your account:
- An account with Sales Dashboard access lands on the Sales Dashboard.
- A client account lands on the Website Manager for their own site.
Two-step verification
You can ask for a six-digit code from your phone as well as your password. It is in Settings → Password → Two-step verification, and it is strongly recommended if you own the account.
- Enter your current password and choose Set up two-step verification.
- Scan the code that appears with an authenticator app — Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator and 1Password all work. If you would rather not scan, the setup key is printed underneath to type in by hand.
- Enter the six-digit number the app shows and choose Turn on.
- Save the ten recovery codes you are given. There are Copy codes and Download as a file buttons, and the codes are not shown again.
After that, signing in asks for the code as well. This works whether you sign in with a password or with Google.
If you lose your phone
Enter one of your recovery codes where it asks for the six-digit code. Each works once, and Settings shows how many you have left. Once you are back in, turn two-step verification off and on again to move it to the new phone; that issues a fresh set of codes.
If the phone and the recovery codes are both gone, the account cannot be recovered from the sign-in page. That is deliberate, and it is why the codes are worth saving somewhere other than the phone.
Forgotten password
Use the Forgot password link on the sign-in page. A reset link is emailed to the address on the account. The link works once and expires; ask for another if it has gone stale.
Changing your password — by reset or in Settings — signs out every other device. The one you are using stays signed in.
Changing the email you sign in with
This is in Settings → Profile, and it takes two steps on purpose, because an email address is how an account is recovered.
- Enter the new address and your current password. If two-step verification is on, you will be asked for a code as well.
- A confirmation link is sent to the new address. Open it while signed in, and the change takes effect.
Your old address is told that the change was requested, so an unexpected message there is worth acting on. Until the link is opened, the old address still signs you in.
