Connecting Stripe and reading Payments

Where invoices, collections and the revenue reports come from.

The Payments tab is where invoices, collections and your Stripe account meet. It is also what the Overview reports draw from, so connecting Stripe is what turns those reports on.

Connecting

Open Payments and choose Connect Stripe. You are sent to Stripe's own website to approve the connection and then returned here.

You never paste a Stripe key into this dashboard. The approval happens on Stripe's domain, and what comes back is a token for your account alone.

Until it is connected

The revenue reports on the Overview are greyed out and say Payment processor not connected, and the whole panel becomes a button through to Payments.

That is deliberate. A chart of zeroes would read as “you have earned nothing”, when the truth is “we cannot see your money yet” — and those are opposite instructions to the person reading the screen.

Connected but still seeing the greyed panel? Reload the page. The reports read the connection when the dashboard loads.

Linking clients to Stripe customers

An invoice can only be filed against a client once you have told the dashboard which Stripe customer is which. Under Clients and Stripe customers, link each one; the link is checked against Stripe before it is saved.

An invoice for a customer nobody has linked is left alone rather than being attached to the closest-looking client.

Keeping up to date

Once connected, invoices update by themselves as Stripe reports them paid, voided or finalised — there is no sync button to remember. Voided and deleted invoices are removed rather than left sitting in your ledger.

Disconnecting

Disconnecting stops the dashboard reading your Stripe account. Payments already recorded stay where they are; the reports go back to the greyed state.

Your Stripe account is yours. Each workspace connects its own, and no other account on the platform can read it.
